More Information on the ASHNR 40th Annual Meeting


On behalf of the American Society of Head & Neck Radiology, I would like to invite you to attend our 40th Annual ASHNR Meeting, to be held at the Wild Horse Pass Sheraton in Phoenix, Arizona Wednesday September 27th to Sunday October 1st 2006. All registrants will be eligible to earn 25 hours of category 1 CME credits from 50 leading experts in head and neck imaging in North America. The conference will emphasize the anatomy and diseases of the spaces of the extracranial head & neck with additional special sessions on the temporal bone, skull base, PET-CT and pediatric H & N diseases. Each session will conclude with an entertaining unknown case sessions with audience response system that will give you a chance to confidentially test your knowledge of the area.

The first three sessions on Wednesday afternoon and Thursday will look through the window of extracranial head & neck spaces to understand the anatomy and pathology of the region. Sessions on the suprahyoid neck, infrahyoid neck and oral cavity will begin with a presentation on global anatomy & imaging approach. A careful look at each of the major spaces in each of these three areas will follow. In each space the critical normal anatomy will be emphasized followed by a presentation of a space-specific differential diagnosis. These sessions will each end with a challenging but enjoyable unknown case review utilizing an audience response system. The Thursday morning session will be followed by our Scientific Paper Session. A copy of the Call for Abstracts will be available in PDF format at our website (www.ashnr.org) as of March 1st 2006.

Friday will begin with a focus session on H & N PET-CT. This session will be devoted to the key practical imaging challenges in PET-CT. The PET-CT unknown case session will be followed by the Gold Medal Award Luncheon. You are all invited to this special lunch ceremony. The PM session will delve into the complex normal anatomy and diseases of the temporal bone. The first ASHNR Gold Medal Annual Oration presented by last year’s Gold Medal Award winner Anthony A. Mancuso. During this provocative 45 minute lecture, Dr. Mancuso will share the secrets he uses to avoid missing the subtle lesions on head and neck imaging studies.

On Saturday morning there will be a special focus session on pediatric lesions of the head and neck. The Sunday morning session concludes the meeting with a series of lectures designed to unlock the mysteries of the skull base & selected cranial nerves. Saturday afternoon is yours to explore the resort’s golf, spa center, desert hikes, equestrian center, Casino and Raw Hide Wild West village. Denim & Diamonds ASHNR gala will occur on Saturday evening so don’t forget your outfit!
